If your fish pond doesn’t have a pump you are missing out on the best health possible for your koi or other fish living in your pond. But it’s not always easy to simply choose any old fish pond pump, because there are many factors that play in wheter or not it is a good fit for you.
Since the garden pond will be running actively it is bound to use energy, so there is a constant “investment” in your assets. Many choose a cheaper model becuase it is just that, cheaper, but it might not always be the best choice as it’s also an investment into your fish’s health.
The main reason for having a garden pond pump is because it actively circulates the oxygen in the pool rejuvenating the necessary bacteria in your pond. Your pump should be active at all times to make sure that the bacteria are getting their oxygen and the fish can reap the benefit.
If you ever think about turning off your garden pond pump, then consider this: If you turn off the pump, the oxygen stops coming and the bacteria become extinct. When this happens the fish do not get a good living environment and they could eventually die!
Make A Good Choice From The Beginning
Choose the right pump from the get go so you do not have to fumble around or change up what pump you use. It’s important to choose a pump that is effective, environmentally friendly, cost effective, quiet, and circulates oxygen well. At least those are some of my person criteria for a good garden pond pump.
